Trip Report: SQ176 SIN-HAN Business

Trip report contributed by a fellow FFP traveller. He travelled Singapore to Hanoi on SQ176 on Business Class. The Seat was 16H which was the last row before the washrooms. Despite the proximity, there was no flushing or door opening/closing noises to complain about.

The seat configuration is 2-2-2 on A330-300. Ample legroom and seat width. Beige colour seats backed with leather. Luggage compartment overhead.

 Hot Milo for welcome drink
IFE monitor in front with on-demand video. 2 tilt out drawers for storage. Lock located at the left of drawers
 Lunch Menu
 Champagnes and Wine list
 Cocktails menu
 Coffee menu
His adjacent seat was empty so he got an extra cup holder for plain water.
Appetizer: Scallops in Singapore Dressing with crackers from the bread basket
Main: Classic Lobster Thermidor. This is good though the butter taste may be a little too rich for some

Main: BTC option Lamb loin. Tough and dry, not recommended.
Sides of tomato and Onions are good though

Main : Seared Black Cod Fillet 'à la Niçoise'. Taste great! Large Portion too
Dessert: Opera cake with raspberry sauce
Drinks: Illy Brazil brew, chilled port wine and white chocolate
view from 16K window

Overall: Enjoyable flight but the BTC lamb loin was a let down.

Trip report: SQ981 BKK-SIN Business

We arrived at the airport early at 4.30 pm. Checked in at the Business class check in counter at row 2.
we received a premium lane pass for customs clearance that enabled us to clear immigrations in less than 5 minutes. Boarding was conducted at 9.25 pm and the business class section is full. We were served with welcome drinks promptly and given a choice of newspapers and magazines.
 Welcome drink
Very large legroom. TV folds into arm of seat.
 Dinner menu
 Wine
 Alcohol
 Cocktail Menu
 Coffee
Tea menu
 Toiletries in the bathroom.
 Royal citrus and Fruit Spitzer
I had the garouper. Quite tasty. but the couscous sides are bleh.
Prawn salad is good with large fresh prawns
The missus had the pork. Overdone pork, almost like jerky

The plane took off at 2145 BKK time. The flight is a short 2 hrs and 25 mins. The attendants were attentive and even went around looking for fashion magazines that the missus asked for. The downsides were the pork dish, the flickering Krisworld entertainment on the Missus seat. At certain angles, the screen flickers annoyingly The Faulty IFE seems to be reported by other passengers as well. They were apologetic and reset the systems but were unable to fix the problem.Fortunately, the problem stops after 1 hr or so into the flight. Flight arrived at Changi on time at 0010 hrs SIN time.
Overall, this is our first Business flight experience on SQ, we had high hopes for our national carrier but were slightly let down by the infrastructure,  hope it does not go downhill from here!

Lounge Review: Bangkok Royal Silk Lounge

There are several Royal Silk lounges in Bangkok. This is convenient for us as we are disappointed with the Silverkris lounge at concourse A so we decided to go to the Royal Silk Lounge at Concourse B. This allowed us to be nearer to our departure gate at concourse C. There are lounges located at concourse D as well. As we are traveling on SQ Business class, we are able to use the royal silk lounge as this is available to all business class passengers departing on a Star Alliance flight.

 Entrance
 Plenty of Seating

 Bread and pastries
 Beverage Bar
 More Seating!
Available by appointment for Thai Airways First Class passengers

Place to slumber.. Take note, no boarding calls will be sounded so do not oversleep!

 Green curry chicken
 Pastries
Took a shower. Just inform the attendant and she will provide a towel

Toiletries.

Wifi speed decent. Overall, We like the lounge much more than the silverkris lounge as the service is better and the place is more spacious and quiet. Hope to be back again!

Lounge Review: Bangkok SilverKris Lounge

The lounge is located at concourse A.
Silverkris lounge is located at level 3. The departure hall is at level 4 so you have to take the escalator down.
The entrance

 Seating. Comfy Couches. No powerpoints
 A few workstations
 Fresh Coconuts available!
 Variety of beverages
 Wine
 Cocktail Available.
 Haagen Dazs Ice cream
 Sandwiches. Not nice
Pastries. Not bad
Wifi speed is reasonable. No showers or restrooms available so you have to go out of the lounge to use the restroom. Food quality not impressive. We were quite disappointed with the lounge in general so we left after about 30 mins later for the royal silk lounge.
